This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Think about the feeling of seeing and understanding something new for the first time - it's truly amazing! With these microscopes and other materials, my students will be able to discover aspects of biology for themselves and find their inner scientist!
Our students live in a very rural region of South Carolina.
All students deserve the very beset education regardless of the income level of their parents and peers. My vision is for my students to realize their personal worth as well as to discover their inner scientists and the benefits of scientific thought. This technology and these resources will allow my students to further develop their skills of discovery and problem solving and will allow the physically minute aspects of biology to come to life.
My Project
With the use of a digital microscope in the classroom, my students will be able to become more in control of their learning. The students will be able to explain their findings to the entire class by displaying it through the digital microscope. While teaching the class about cells, we can zoom in on animal and plant cells, like the cell of an onion undergoing mitosis, and make real life connections to the parts of a cell. This can be the beginning of great explorations in science and beyond.
The benefits of having digital microscopes for my students to use are limitless.
This goes beyond the classroom, into their life experiences of how systems work, and how technology and science can work together. These skills will help them become more active in problem solving in scientific, professional, and even community settings. Thank you for giving my students the opportunity to embrace their inner scientists and develop lifelong skills that will one day make a difference in our world.
