Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
At Palms Middle School we are lucky enough to have a Preferred Activity Class (PAC) every Wednesday for about 8-10 weeks per semester. PAC is an additional class added to the schedule that reflects hobbies of the staff and students. Such classes have included scrap booking, anime, nail art, beading, quilting, guitar, listen to Mozart while eating chocolate, soccer, poetry, etc.
My proposal is to start a yoga PAC to introduce the elements of focus, proper breathing and concentration. My hope is to teach students how to de-stress, relax, focus, and enjoy feeling healthy and happy using yoga as a tool.
Donors Choose comes into the picture because Palms Middle School does not receive much government funding, therefore, my request for 50 yoga mats will not be met. I am looking to the public's interest in donating either yoga mats or funds to purchase yoga mats for our students who are interested in choosing yoga as their Preferred Activity Class.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
