My students need writing journals, writing lessons, vocabulary games, and math vocabulary cards.

My Students

My students greatly need vocabulary support. This project will help us incorporate learning math vocabulary and writing with the help of interactive notebooks.

My school serves students in preK through sixth grade.

Our population is 66% Hispanic, 10% African American, 10% Caucasian, 6% Asian, and 8% other ethnic groups. In addition, 93% of our students receive free or reduced priced lunch. Our students come to us with a very limited vocabulary.

My Project

My students will be using six trait writing resources, writing journals, and games to learn math vocabulary. Each student will have his/her own vocabulary journal. They will use the skills learned in the six trait writing lessons to make interactive math vocabulary journals where they will cut, glue draw and write about math concepts and vocabulary. Each student will also be able to reinforce his/her vocabulary with the use of math vocabulary games.

The donations to this project will increase my students' vocabulary.

Since many of my students have limited vocabularies due to being English language learners and children with limited resources/poverty, the interactive vocabulary journals will help my students learn and retain key math concepts and vocabulary in a fun and hands-on way.
