These are all common phrases that come out of a 5th graders mouth on any given day.
My students are an energetic group of Spanish-dominant and English-dominant students that spend half of the day learning in Spanish and half of the day learning in English.
We are in a school that has two different learning strands: Dual Language Immersion and English only instruction. We serve a very diverse population with over 60 percent of students living in poverty; almost all of the students in my class make up part of that 60 percent. We are also unique in that minority cultures make up the majority of our school population.
My Project
My students need stability chairs, stools and stretch bands for their chairs. These resources will help students focus and engage with their classwork. Through being able to move while they work, they will be able to increase work completion while still getting their wiggles out! Wobble chairs will allow students to use correct posture as well as move while their are working. The stretch bands will help students control their body while sitting in a normal chair as they can move the band without getting up or leaving their work.
This project will improve our classroom and team because students that struggle with paying attention will have a outlet for their energy while maintaining focus on their classwork.
Students will be more successful in their day to day work and behaviors will improve.
