My students need 1 Letters Alive software program to increase letter and letter sound identification, language skills, and phonemic awareness to build better readers!!
Welcome to the jungle! This is how we welcome visitors. When you walk in, there is a lot going on and students are in several areas of the room and all learning through different modalities. My students learn best through a variety of styles that include visual, auditory, and kinesthetic.
When you enter our room, you will quickly see that students are engaged and enjoy learning.
They truly enjoy learning and are most engaged when I use a variety of styles to meet their needs. My students are all very different in the ways that their needs must be met, and it is crucial for me to have multiple styles and tools to reach them where they're at. Our classroom is a self-contained class for students Kindergarten to 5th grade with Moderate to Severe Disabilities, and so it is of the utmost important that I can employ the use of a variety of tools and techniques to successfully reach EACH and EVERY one!
I have students typically for 3-5 years due to the nature of my classroom. Commonly my students have the most difficulty learning letters and sounds. In the past, my students have responded best and showed the most progress using technology to supplement our daily instruction. In our room, we want all students to THRIVE, not stop when one goal is met!!!
My Project
I am requesting 1 Letters Alive software program to increase letter and letter sound identification, language skills, and phonemic awareness to build better readers!!
Through the use of Letters Alive, my students will SEE the letters come alive, HEAR the sounds of the letters coming alive, and TOUCH the cards/animal as they come alive. This software incorporates visual, auditory, and kinesthetic strategies to bring the world of letters ALIVE and reach all of my students in the method that is most engaging to them. My students will be able to move the cards and see the animals respond to the words placed on the active mat. For example, they will see the sentence "The elephant can run" and the elephant will RUN! Then we can change the card and students will see the elephant shake his head no if we change "run" to "fly", and this will build skills of animals and their environments, not just letter ID/recognition.
According to their website, there is a 48% increase in letter naming fluency, 112% increase in letter sound fluency, and classroom management problems decrease.
If this is something I could purchase on my own, I would do it immediately!!

We need the opportunities to learn in the methods that best meets INDIVIDUAL learning styles, and this does that. Students will be able to learn in their own way, and have it supplemented by additional modes in Letters Alive.
