My Students
Young children are natural wigglers. Asking kids to sit still to learn isn't always the best choice. With a Hokki Stool, students can learn while getting active!
My students come from countries all over the world.
Most speak 2, if not more, languages. Somalia, Nigeria, Japan, and Ireland are only a few of the countries represented. Each of them brings with them rich experience that enhances our classroom climate. Since English is not the first language for most of my students, I work hard to surround them with language and help them feel welcome. Since we are an inner city school with about 70% of students eligible for free and reduced lunch, classroom donations are limited.
My Project
When students are working independently or in small groups, it's hard for some to stay focused. They get up and move around the room, distracting other students and abandoning their own work. Their bodies are telling them to move, so they listen. A Hokki stool would allow these students to continue learning while getting active.
Prehistoric man ran 5 miles a day.
We are all wired with this energy inside us. Kids need to be given an outlet to get that energy out. With a Hokki stool, kids can release some of their energy while staying focused and learning.
