This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My first graders love to learn and read and I want to provide them with excellent reading material.

My school has a high-poverty rate of about 91%, but that doesn't stop my first graders from wanting to learn!

My class is full of young students who want to learn as much as possible and share their learning with others. They come to school each day ready to learn.

My Project

I am requesting a variety of biography picture books to use as read alouds and to put in our classroom library. My students love non-fiction and they love learning about people! It is important for my students to learn about what others have done, so they can start thinking about what they would like to do when they grow up.

These books will help my first graders enhance their love of reading and give them plenty of chances to learn about others through these biographies.

It will help our non-fiction book collection grow.
