Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our second grade theme this year is "What's YOUR Story?"I need this camera to show them how important, special, smart and amazing they are each day, both in school and out of school. I plan to use this camera daily to capture their sweet faces as they accomplish things that they have never imagined.

I teach in a very high poverty, diverse school that is rarely acknowledged by our system.

The students don't have much and don't know how important they truly are. I am amazed by their incredible spirit and desire to learn. I want them to realize how special they are.

My Project

Most of my students don't have any pictures of themselves growing up and doing special things so I need this camera to change all that. I want to show them through pictures what they bring to the classroom, community and what their strengths, hardships, friendships, etc. look like. I plan to take many pictures each day and have them tell their story of how amazing they really are.

Your donation will help plant the seed of self-esteem and "I can" attitude in these kids as we are able to LOOK at the pictures we take and discuss, write and reflect about how they are growing in all situations.
