Teacher Professional Development: I need to attend the I Teach K! National Kindergarten Conference to learn valuable information and best practices to incorporate into my classroom. <profdevpilot>
"All I really need to know, I learned in Kindergarten." - Robert Fulghum
I consider my job the most important job in the world! For many of my students, kindergarten is their first taste of school. I must keep a variety of tools in my toolbox to ensure my students are successful!
I have taught Kindergarten for 11 years!
Like my students, I enjoy learning new things! I teach in a high poverty, Title I school. My students come into my classroom with a variety of knowledge and experiences, but they all have a sparkle in their eye and a desire to learn! My school is also the district's technology academy. I put an emphasis on incorporating technology into my classroom.
My Project
There are limited professional development opportunities that are available specifically for kindergarten teachers. The presenters at I Teach K! are the best early childhood educators in the country, so their expertise, ideas, and suggestions are invaluable! The sessions I am most interested in include literacy games, math centers, creating formative and summarize assessments, technology and apps for kids, establishing beginning of the year procedures, teaching vocabulary, counteracting the impact of poverty, and helping students with learning disabilities.
Upon my return, I will be able to share what I have learned with the other kindergarten teachers in not only my school, but across the district!
This project will make a difference to me and my students, because without with out this project, I would not be able to attend the national I Teach K!
conference. This conference will provide me with many new ideas and best practices that I can implement immediately in my classroom!
