We Still Need More Books!

My students need book sets such as Conservation, Spanish Heritage, Animals, and Assorted Nonfiction that they are interested in so that they are motivated to read! Every year the interests of my students change, so my needs for books do, too!

My Students

A typical day in my classroom consists of a lot of reading and talking about books. Within every subject area, I use children's literature. Many of my students ask to read at indoor recesses, ask to take my books home, and complain when it's time to stop reading!

My students are third graders.

I have 10 boys and 7 girls in our little, rural school. They love animals and really prefer non-fiction books to fiction right at the moment. This can change on a dime, but they really are sponges for learning and enjoy researching and learning new things.

My Project

We are requesting books such as Conservation, Spanish Heritage, Animals, and Assorted Nonfiction. My students will use these books during our guided reading time, during our "Read to Self" time and during our "Read to Someone" time. We have kindergarten reading buddies and I am sure that many of my students will want to share these new books with their reading buddies. This is so exciting!

My project will make a difference in my classroom because many of the students have read all the books I own on the topics they are interested in.

Having brand, new books is a very exciting thing for these students.
