My Students

I am a 6th grade teacher in a low-income school in Brooklyn. We have approximately 1,000 students in our school, with no computer lab or place to do research. We need computers to prepare the students for their future. Many of my students rely on their teachers to provide them with materials.

My students consist of a diverse group of kids of all different backgrounds.

They are wonderful, motivated, unique, and loving. They really are enthusiastic learners, who yearn to persevere through challenges. My school is filled with life long learners who, when given the opportunity and support, really shine!

My Project

Many students in my class do not have the knowledge of basic computer functions like saving a document or using the web for research. It is so important to prepare our students for college. In order to do that, we need five laptop computers to teach them how to research, create PowerPoint presentations, speeches, resumes and more.

That's why this project is so valuable and important!

With our own computers, my students can use them in their classroom whenever it's convenient. In turn, this will provide countless opportunities for them to increase their knowledge. We can explore class projects involving research and writing. Writing is becoming a very important component in today's curriculum and having them handy will motivate students to want to write because kids love to use computers. Really the world is at our fingertips!
