My Students
Being a fish enthusiast and all-around animal lover, I'm currently using our 120 gallon salt water reef tank and classroom library to introduce my students to solution and acid/base chemistry as well as basic and integrated laboratory process skills, ecology and water quality.
My students are friendly, bright and very hardworking.
Around 63% of my students are on "free & reduced lunch" and almost none of them have ever studied saltwater fish and invertebrates first-hand. They have, however, expressed a strong interest in learning more about marine fish and invertebrates. My students enjoy reading about them from our donated classroom library. Many of my students dream of becoming veterinarians, pharmacists, chemists and marine biologists.
My Project
The sea salt and snails will really help keep our marine reef tank clean and healthy. Throughout the school year, my students will learn hands-on about solution and acid/ base chemistry, Henry's Law (dissolved gases) as well as basic and integrated laboratory process skills, ecology, & water quality/ pollution.
By exposing my students to the wonders of the reef, you will make a HUGE difference in my students' lives.
Hopefully, after learning more about the reef and its many inhabitants, they will be more focused on helping preserve it.
