"The more things you read, the more things you'll know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." ~Dr. Seuss I want my students to read a variety of texts and to learn all that they need to know to not only become successful readers, but also lifelong learners.
My students come from a wide variety of backgrounds, with a variety of needs.
However different they may be, one thing they all have in common is that they are excited to learn! Our school is an outstanding charter school dedicated to academic excellence and the development of the whole child. However, the elementary school is only just beginning its third year of existence. As such, we are working to build up our resources.
The Kindle Fire HDX will allow me to purchase and download a wide variety of text at many different levels for my students. I will also be able to download apps that will enable my students to practice vital reading foundation skills. I'm also requesting a kid-proof case to keep the Kindle safe and headphones so that students can listen to the sound as they work on the Kindle without interrupting the learning of others. This would be a resource I would use daily with students I pull for reading intervention and enrichment.
Essentially, this project will provide me with an amazing tool that will help me to make a bigger impact as I provide reading intervention and enrichment to students.
Reading is an imperative life-skill, so this resource is not only assisting my students in achieving success in school, but it is also preparing them for college- and career-readiness.
