We Love First Grade!

My students need an ELMO document camera so that all my students will be able to see and learn at the same time.

My Students

I have a classroom full of eager first grade students who are impatient to learn about their world. They love to go home each day to share what they have learned, but often my students cannot see our materials. I want to erase the disappointment in these young voices as I hear, "Ms D., I can't see!"

Our elementary is a high-poverty, rural school, but school spirit, school pride, and excitement are high, and great value is placed on learning.

My students LOVE to come to school, and they have fun learning, but it is impossible for every child in my class to all see the board, books, and learning materials which are displayed to assist learning at one time. For my little ones, it is so hard to wait, and as an educator, I know how important it is for learning to take place when students are excited and interested.

My Project

We have a multimedia projector in our classroom but no way to capture images that we need to project. An Elmo document camera is all we need to bring images to life. They will then project onto a big screen to assist beginning reading, math, art, and even science projects as it keeps students spellbound. Even pages of material could be placed under the document camera and projected. This would save paper and valuable copying time that could be spent on more important activities. Every child is sure to pay attention when they can all see everything with the Elmo camera. There will be no more loss of interest because, "I can't see!"

Every student in my classroom will be able to see classroom learning projects throughout the school day.

This technology will also assist any visually handicapped students that I may have. As Lauren Myracle tells us, "If everyone started their day off singing, just think how happy they would be!" I want each of my first graders to be able to see every activity as their educational journey has a beautiful and happy beginning!
