My students need 30 memory cards to use in their video cameras, plus 30 card readers and 30 flash drives so they can transfer and save their files while others use the camera
Have you ever had a ton of great ideas, but not had the resources to bring those ideas to life? My TV students come up with some amazingly creative and innovative ideas but are held back by the the lack of equipment and resources. We currently only have 6 working cameras they must share.
We are a brand new broadcast news program at our high school.
Our program is made up of passionate students who applied to be in the course and spend tons of extra time and energy after school creating a quality news show. The students make it their point to be the eyes and ears of the school, which includes covering events during and after school, interviewing, researching, and investigating and can be very difficult when you only have access to 6 working cameras. Unfortunately, we get no funding and since we are a new program, we lack a lot of equipment and resources that we need to help us take off.
My Project
These resources would change the way we operate. By having these thumb drives, SD cards, and card readers, each student would be able to have their own set of memory to store and edit their videos. This would allow our students to really get out into the school and video tape everything that is going on, despite only having 6 working cameras. Once they shoot their video, they will be able to take their SD card, card reader, and thumb drive and edit the video together on their own, while someone else is able to use the camera. Currently, we only have 1 memory card for each person in a camera group so 6+ students are having to share. This would allow for more students to be more creative and interactive in their learning of broadcast journalism.
This project will sincerely impact not only the students in this course, but the entire school.
By giving these students the ability to have their own set of storage space, they will be able to do more and highlight more of the amazing things happening at our school. Students will become better listeners, communicators, educators, and critical thinkers by allowing them the opportunity to journalistically cover what is going on at their school!
