At the beginning of Beauty and the Beast movie, the town's people sing about the main character, Belle's love of reading. They share,"With a dreamy, far-off look! And her nose stuck in a book"! Seeing my students with their nose in a book is something I love! My goal is to build a Pre K library!
I have been a Pre K teacher for a few years now.
I teach at a Pre K-5th grade feeder school. Parental support is a positive factor in our town. Our local school has around five hundred and fifty students. I currently teach Pre K students who are eager to learn and work in centers every day. Our school is one in the district that focuses on technology integration with the students daily.
My Project
Belle, a main story character in the movie, "Beauty and the Beast" has a wonderful love of reading. The entrance song has one line that states, " With a dreamy, far-off look and her nose stuck in a book!" I love that line in the song. As a pre k teacher, my goal is to encourage my students to embrace reading. So, I would love to build an inviting classroom library that sparks warm feelings toward reading with corner filled with a bookcase and a variety of books my students could enjoy. Anne Schwartzberg, recently stated in a Scholastic article, "Like a light bulb suddenly turning on, your Pre-K child has awakened to a universe of Pre-K reading including letters, words, and ideas. You can help that light shine brighter and longer with a specific Pre-K reading plan." I truly believe this, too! A quote I love from Margaret Fuller states, "Today a reader, tomorrow a leader!" I believe that. Help me build my little classroom library corner to encourage our future leaders of tomorrow!
Like Belle in the Disney "Beauty and the Beast" movie, many students have a love of reading!
As an educator, I want to set the ground floor to keep that love of reading alive. With a library book stand and books I am asking for, I know I could create an inviting, comfortable & warm reading corner that would truly entice children to visit our little classroom library. Cozy & encouraging visits there, will hopefully set the ground floor for a love of reading with my little ones. Can you help us?
