My students need: a package of reading colored overlays, a balance beam and a tilt board to work on balance and a kit 'rollease' set for eye-hand work.
Leaving no child behind, our small school district is working to find ways to improve reading skills and learning disabilities through vision therapy and brain gym.
Our building is a preschool through fifth grade elementary school in a low income, rural community.
The students come to our school with a wide range of experience and abilities. The teachers work hard to learn new strategies to help our students. We are working to make a "Brain Gym" classroom to improve vision, eye-hand coordination, and balance.
My Project
Research proves that working on improving eye muscles and balance improve student reading and athletic ability. We are currently using activities in our classrooms, but would like to create a place for students to go to practice eye-hand coordination and balance. Students will walk on a balance beam, use eye charts, and tether ball to improve their skills.
Our rural elementary school will benefit from this project by improving reading scores.
Students will develop a love of learning through these activities that are fun! A "Brain Gym" will provide our students with activities to improve our learning!
