My students need a bagless vacuum cleaner to have a clean room in which to learn.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Becker's classroom raised $397

My Students
Students eat breakfast and lunch in the classrooms in our wonderful old building. Due to budget cuts this year, we only receive janitorial services two days a week. We need a vacuum to make our classroom clean and ready for learning.
I teach a 5th and 6th grade combination class in an extremely diverse public school where more than 80% of the students are eligible for free or reduced lunch.
Because of this, we also offer breakfast to our students. It's a wonderful old school; the building is over 50 years old.
My Project
Even though Alaska is a wealthy state, funding for schools has remained flat for several years. Because of this, our district has had to slash funding for everything. This year, we lost daily janitorial services and our rooms are only vacuumed twice a week. My students are old enough to take on this task themselves, but we need a vacuum we can store in the classroom. My students are eager helpers and will enjoy vacuuming at the end of the day.
Daily vacuuming is especially vital because we eat breakfast and lunch in the classroom.
With twenty-five 10 and 11-year-olds, you are going to have spills. Cereal flakes get stepped on. It just happens. We really need to vacuum each and every day. The other day I spied a cockroach, which are rare in Alaska. I don't want to feed them!
