This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Texas high school students must pass a U.S. History end-of-course exam as a graduation requirement. My students learn best by seeing historical reenactments and documentaries.

My school is a credit-recovery public high school for at-risk students, including Limited English Proficient, Special Education, teen parents, and returning dropouts.

My school's population is 100% Hispanic. Our school has five computer lab classrooms, including my Social Studies lab.

My Project

An important part of my job is to prepare students for high-stakes state of Texas tests that students need to pass in order to graduate. My students learn through visual demonstrations, such as History Channel documentaries. I am requesting an amplifier and speaker system for the classroom TV & projector. My first priority for the speaker system and amplifier will be to augment the existing audio-visual system. This will allow my students to hear the history videos they need to learn through for the state tests.

Students will want to watch and listen to the history videos they need to learn the material for the state U.S.

History exam. By passing the STAAR end-of-course test, they will be eligible for high school graduation.
