My students need a projector and a document camera in order to promote math literacy and make content accessible for students with auditory processing deficits.
"If we are to achieve a richer culture, rich in contrasting values, we must recognize the whole gamut of human potentialities, and so weave a less arbitrary social fabric, one in which each human gift will find a fitting place." -Margaret Mead
I teach students with learning disabilities and ADHD who deeply want to succeed and learn.
My school serves low income students of color. The majority of my students receive free or reduced lunch.
In a typical day in the Resource Room students will come in to receive help with assignments, prepare or take an assessment, or to simply share how their day is going. Our Academic Literacy class supports students in Special Education by teaching math, reading, and organization skills.
My Project
My students will be able to engage in interactive projects that will enable them to learn basic math and grammar skills. Many of my students have auditory processing deficits which make traditional lectures challenging. Having a projector and a document camera will allow all students to access important academic material and learn the skills necessary for college readiness.
This project will make a huge difference in my classroom.
It will allow my students to access information in ways that promote their natural gifts and intellectual excellence. Many of my students struggle academically and this is exacerbated by the lack of materials at my high school. I believe all students have the capacity to succeed and these tools will help unleash their inner scholar and make math and grammar more accessible.
