Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Have you seen kids as they are playing with the newest technology? They know how to use it almost instantaneously. What they don't realize is that they are learning at the same time as they are playing. It is so great to see them enjoying the learning process.
Our student body is diverse.
We have military kids, International Baccalaureate students, AVID students, students of all levels of learning, students from many walks of life, however the majority of the students have one thing that they cannot overcome without education; they come from economically disadvantaged homes. Our school works hard to promote learning across the board. Our students have risen to meet these demands, we have had an increase in students taking more advanced classes. The only thing they have asked of us it to not just stand there and lecture. To make the lessons as entertaining as well as educational.
My Project
Having technology in the classroom that can grab and hold their attention is wonderful. iPod Touches have the amazing capability to draw students in. They have used them already for entertainment. It is another modality to capture student attention and engage them in learning. The iPod will allow students to take a hands-on approach in that they can manipulate information, while having fun. Having the technology at our disposal, instantly, will make lessons more meaningful and transitions run smooth. All of this impacts the students education and their life.
Please help my classroom compete with the world the students are accustomed too.
I see students harnessing the technology everyday, it is second nature to them. Help me harness this technology in a way that makes learning through the iPod second nature as well.
