To Print or Not to Print - Why Should We Question?
My students need 4 cartridges of black ink so that they can have the ability to print their homework, essays, projects, and research without the worry of paying for the privilege of printing at the library.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Printing out an essay or research to finish a class project should be second nature. There should be no restrictions, however, during the budget process the first thing cut is the printing budget. Students are now charged up to .25 a page to print.
The majority of my students are from low income homes.
They are good kids, who do not come from great backgrounds. They need every advantage they can to succeed. They thrive on interaction, on success, and must have state of the art knowledge to prepare them for the careers of tomorrow. This access to technology does them very little good if they cannot afford to print out the information that they need.
My Project
My students have a portion of the tools they need to be successful. We have a library with computer access. In this library they can do research, they can type up their essays and research papers, but they cannot print these assignments off unless they bring cash with them. Our students are charged for the things that they print out.
I want to take away that barrier. My students will be able to email me their assignments, from any class, and I can print them out in my classroom, free of charge. However, I need toner.
Twenty five cents does not seem to be a large amount, but it is.
A quarter will get a student to and from school on the city bus. A quarter allows a student on reduced lunch to purchase their lunch or breakfast. Many of my students have a quarter with them, but it is their budget for the day. They should not have to decide between a bus ride, a meal, and printing their classwork.
