My Students
Do you remember the excitement you felt at school when a new weekly magazine arrived? My students would love to experience that feeling too. Good nonfiction reading material is hard to come by. Time for Kids is a great magazine that will bring excitement into the classroom.
92% of my students come from low-income homes where reading is not a priority and parents have limited funds to buy extra reading materials.
Being the reading specialist at my school,I work with students in grades 1-5 that are below grade level in reading. I am always looking for new materials to engage the students in reading nonfiction text as well as support the curriculum that will be at their reading levels. I also plan to share the subscriptions with the 3rd, 4th and 5th grade teachers so their students can benefit from these magazines.
My Project
Time for Kids offers a great opportunity for my 2nd through 5th graders who are struggling in reading to develop their nonfiction reading and writing skills while immersing themselves in real world topics. The magazine will also help in reading maps and charts while supporting other cross curricular areas.
I can't wait for my students to start receiving this wonderful magazine.
