Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are currently working through the integration of technology in the classroom. Through many different projects, students will be creating presentations, movies, and writing amazing papers. As we integrate more technology, students will learn 21st Century Skills for their futures.
My students are some of the most amazing students, thirsty for knowledge and hungry to reach their greatest potential.
As high achieving students, these kids have been placed into an achievement program to challenge them not only intellectually, but also socially and creatively. Students will be working on their normal curriculum, but also on Engineering, Technology, and 21st Century Skills that are essential to success in the future. These students all come varied backgrounds, but are all highly motivated students. Our school is actively trying to succeed at integrating technology in creative ways to ensure students are prepared for future testing, but also have the best opportunities possible to them.
My Project
Earbuds are essential in a technology driven and integrated classroom. One of the goals of our program is to have self-directed learners who learn at their own pace and have more choice on their learning. Earbuds allow students to be working on different tasks at the same time, without interfering with the learning of others. Students will use the earbuds to watch informational and opinion videos in writing class to help them use video research as part of their research for papers. Within science, earbuds will be used to ensure students can work on many different topics simultaneously. These students will be creating videos using iMovie while also watching videos on many different topics. Students will use earbuds in math to learn at their own pace and use challenging programs such as LearnZillion, SumDog, and other math tools that show improved performance after its use.
These students are excited to be using the technology in the classroom, but have struggled recently due to interference from other students.
Earbuds will help groups working on projects to focus on their own activities during research and projects. Students are also required to use videos during online testing. The earbuds ensure students can watch the videos as often as possible. They also ensure that students can focus on their work, rather than what is going on around them.
