This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Can you imagine how excited our students will feel when they see they have transformed our school auditorium and cafeteria with murals that promote our campus' educational goals and values? This is our challenge, and we are ready to make a positive impact on our school culture for many years to come.

There are approximately 730 elementary students who attend art classes each week beginning with PK through 5th grade.

Our little tigers are so excited about coming to art class and know they will be so excited to transform our barren walls in the auditorium and cafeteria into something spectacular. While our 1950s style campus is charming, it could definitely use some artistic help from our young students.

My Project

Using these paint supplies, students will be collaborating to create a series of murals that promote a positive school culture and reinforce our learning objectives. Since our mascot is the tiger, we will create murals showing students reading books with our tiger, studying with our tiger, eating healthy food with our tiger, etc. We will incorporate the image of the tiger with our students to communicate what our campus goals are in a visual series of large scale images. Brief text will accompany the images to reinforce the message being promoted in the individual murals.

Students who walk into the auditorium and cafeteria will be able to see in these murals why it is that we come to school.

These murals will also help visitors to our campus be able to follow along with our school motto and key values by looking at the images with the accompanying text.
