Research shows that iPads used with children in special education classrooms are productive. The children are responding to the iPad and apps in a remarkable way. I believe that iPads can transform special education classrooms! As a new special education teacher this year, I'd love to see it happen. My students need a set of three iPad mini 3 tablets with cases.
I am currently a special education teacher at an elementary school with more than 500 students from Pre-K through 5th grade.
Currently, I am working with 13 students in several grade levels in classroom settings and in my own classroom. I love my students and bringing out the best in them.
My Project
In my line of work as a special education teacher, I am always working to enrich lessons for my students. My students love technology tools and resources. A trio of iPad mini 3 tablets in my classroom would allow all the students under my wing to experience the interactivity of iPads and apps. I could use the iPads and apps in centers, as well as in whole groups when they are connected to my projector. Having iPad mini 3 tablets and cases would truly help us out.
I plan to use the iPads for intervention to help reduce gaps in certain skills. I would use those in independent and group centers. As a teacher, I also plan to use an iPad by connecting it to my projector for whole class lessons. Our school has already set up an iPad page with apps for parents, teachers and students. Many of those are free. I know my students would love to work with these in reading, math, social studies and science.
