The Gift of Manipulatives

My students need manipulatives, like magnetic letters, soft dice, stamps and wikki stix, to help encourage higher level thinking as well as inspire hands-on creative learning.

My Students

Students who are hands-on learners and do not succeed through auditory learning will greatly benefit from your gift of manipulatives. The items I have requested will allow students to play and learn all at the same time.

My "Safari Students" come to school each day eager to learn and always put forth their best work.

Each student has unique qualities about them; especially their way of learning. Some of my students learn through visual cues, others auditory listening and some kinesthetic - hands-on - techniques. Our school focuses on meeting the needs of each student and challenges our students with every day learning. With this project, my kinesthetic learners will be able to excel and thrive in learning.

My Project

The students in my classroom participate in a Literacy Centers each day. During the centers, students are working in small groups to accurately complete the task at hand. The students engage in centers such as, Spelling, Writing, Word Work, Guided Reading, and use hands-on tools to understand reading and writing. The stamps, cubes, and other manipulatives I have requested will help motivate the students in my classroom. They will be able to continue to work independently on learning vital skills and have fun at the same time. The students will learn and practice high frequency words, vocabulary, spelling and sight words found in all authentic books, as well as how to manipulate sounds to make words.

Allowing students to maximize their word skills through the use of manipulatives will make reading and writing FUN!

Studies have shown, students learn and retain more information when they do not recognize they are learning. Your help in this project will make a difference in the way my students learn early literacy skills they will need forever.
