My students are 6th and 8th graders in a rural school with an average of 80 students per grade.
My students live in a high poverty area. Most families live on governmental assistance. We have a large amount of free and reduced lunches. Our school is lacking in technology and current up to date text books and supplies. The lack of technology available to each student decreases the ability for the students to use all of their learning potential. My students believe in respect, discipline, hard-work, and trust in all they do and say. My students strive for success and hunger for information. The students are the future and we need to invest in them to make a change. the students are bright, eager , and willing to learn. They strive every day to be the best that they can be. The students currently have no exposure to technology in the classroom. The students are forced to use out of date books for references.
My Project
My students have the desire to become successful competitive individuals in their future college and career endeavors. My job is to ensure their success and provide for the best education possible. Currently I work very hard to provide the best education possible but feel we could do so much more with a few more tools in our tool box. With the Chromebooks each one of my students would be able to use technology on a daily basis. Students could research more up to date information using the internet. Students could practice virtual labs and explore new experimental ideas. Students could be more prepared for the future of science. I would be able to track student progress and mange their learning more efficiently. My students would learn how to use technology and apply it to real world scenarios. My students would be able to compete with other schools that have already moved forward leaving them behind.
With the use of the Chromebooks my ability to provide the best education available would be possible.
I would be able to prepare my students for future challenges that they may face in college and their careers. My students lives would be greatly impacted by something as simple as allowing them to have daily contact with current technology. Most of my students do not have home computers, Internet, or laptops. The ability to expose them to the future is the best educational tool I could think of.
