My students need a digital flip camera to create and record digital stories, movies, and projects they create in math, language arts, science, and social studies.

My Students
"If we teach today as we taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow." -John Dewey
My students need the resources and tools to learn how to be productive members in this technology driven world.
We are from a small, rural school district in Missouri.
I have a class full of energetic, inquisitive, fifth grade students who love learning through technology. Anytime I can bring technology into the lesson or classroom they are all hands on deck!
My Project
Kids love technology and are always connected outside of school. Why stop when they enter the classroom? Technology gives students a voice and allows them to participate on their level, it naturally differentiates. There are so many tools, apps, and resources available to teach them how to become better digital citizens and to allow them to create things outside of the box.
A flip camera is great for countless activities and projects in the classroom. Just a few ideas for student use include making trailers for books or movies, recording skits from plays or books they have read or written themselves, making documentaries on science or social studies topics discussed in the classroom, or demonstrations of how to solve a math problem. There are so many ways this camera can be incorporated into the classroom and it's a fun way for students to get involved in their own learning and even some teaching!
When technology is involved I have more student interest and participation.
The end product is always better because it is something they were able to create on their own. It is my job to prepare them for the future, but without the tools to do so, they will be left behind.
