My Students

Have you ever come home with a new piece of technology or a new book? Do you remember that feeling of excitement and anticipation you had? That feeling is what I hope to instill in my students by adding more technology in my classroom.

I teach in a Title I school that has over 500 students.

Our school is in a very small southern communit,y so many of my students enjoy deer hunting, racing dirt bikes, and even working on their family farm. Several of my female students like cheerleading and enjoy drawing pictures. My students enjoy using the computer, taking dance breaks in class, doing science experiments, story time when I read to them, and they love working in our 2nd grade butterfly garden.

My Project

In my classroom, there is only one computer for the students to use, so having a tablet will provide another source of technology for them to use during the day. One of my students' favorite activities during our literacy block is the listening center. They love listening to recorded stories on Storyline Online and books on CD. If I receive this Asus MeMO tablet and case, my students will be able to listen to recorded stories to assist with their reading fluency. I can also download books onto the tablet and provide my students with additional reading material, like magazines. Paper books fall apart and can be very expensive. The tablet will keep books in our classroom longer. The students can also play educational games and activities to improve their reading, writing, and math skills. In addition to improving academic skills, my students will improve their technology skills, learn how to be responsible and take care of property, and will practice sharing and taking turns with their classmates.

With this tablet, my students will have access to additional technology that they can use throughout the day.

This will improve my classroom because my students are more focused and engaged when they use technology. Many of my students do not have computers at home so they are always excited to use them. They will benefit from this device simply because they will be excited to use it, they will have access to more books, and more activities to choose from for reading and math.
