For many students today, iPads, iPhones, and computers are a staple at home; for many of my students, this is not. Please help us get even more excited about our educational journey with this technology!
I teach at a Title I school in an urban area of Louisiana.
My students are part of a third grade gifted class. Many of these students do not have access to much technology at home; for these students I would love to provide access to one of the most useful and fun forms of technology-- the iPad. I pride myself in having a classroom that fosters learning and success; my students come to work hard every day. For this reason, I think they deserve this support!
My Project
I am requesting 1 Apple iPad to give them practice with technology during center time. If I had an iPad, my students would be allowed to use this technology during center and independent time. There are a variety of educational apps as well as kindle books I would be able to purchase for my students. I picture two students sitting on the bean bags using the iPad to further advance their learning. During reading, kindle books will inspire some reluctant readers to get their hands on a good book. During math, there are many fact fluency games my students could play. Overall, my students would learn how to use a different type of technological medium, since this is not something many of them have access to.
This will change the lives of my students by making learning exciting and by preparing them to become more technologically savvy.
I know this would be the most coveted center activity in my classroom because of everything it would allow my students to do. My students will have access to new apps and will enjoy playing games while improving their skills.
