My students love being able to utilize technology. It has given them a new found confidence and a connection to school that they never experienced in the past. Their connection with technology has ignited a spark within these students and for that I am grateful.
My students are very excited about technology and will jump at any chance to explore new learning sites and applications. My schools works very hard to get technology into the hands of our students. This year we have 1 to 1 Chromebooks in both 4th and 5th grades. I would love to expose students to this technology in the primary grades so they are fluent in technology by the time they are in the intermediate grades.
My students cannot get enough of technology.
They are excited to utilize these Chromebooks for every aspect of their everyday learning. Some of their favorite ways to use the Chromebook is to visit Kahn Academy to practice math concepts, practice their weekly word patterns, play math games to strengthen their addition and subtraction fluency, and as a listening center where they are busy building their reading fluency. Having this new technology has helped me to differentiate daily independent practice for all of my students in all subject areas and frees me up to work one on one or in small strategy groups when students need additional reinforcement. My students are doing great things with the current technology we have, but I know they will do amazing things if they had the chance to have access to their own Chromebook day in and day out.
Putting this technology in the hands of my students will provide them with learning opportunities they wouldn't otherwise experience. The more exposure to technology they have the more confident they become in navigating through various operating systems. The increased screen time will help them to build their on line test taking stamina which is now a requirement in most schools. Please help me make this dream a reality for my students
My Project
My students will be using their Chromebooks to help differentiate learning in math and reading. Students will be able to follow their own learning path using RazKids.com for reading to build their reading skills in their own tailored reading path that is made specifically for them. They will also be using the Chromebooks for math instruction that is broken up into 4 different groups. Each student will learn to go online and sign into a group that meets their specific needs and learning goals.
My students will have the opportunity to learn through use of technology and differentiated instruction.
