My Students

The biggest challenge for any teacher is to teach 21st century skills, when there is not enough technology for every student. My goal is to teach the students how to use technology to support their college and career readiness.

I love group work.

My students often work with either a partner or in small groups. Technology will go a long way to supporting group work within my classroom. I have approximately 155 students during the day. They are all freshmen, and are eager to be in the high school! I teach team taught (meaning I have a co-teacher to support students with special educational needs) as well as a general education population. We have 30-36 students in each class period. My school is growing fast, with over 2,700 students this year! We are not a low income school, but we also do not have the funds to support 1:1 technology in the classrooms. There is always a need for support to teach those important technology driven 21st Century skills.

My Project

We have a wide range of students in the classroom. To best support the differentiation of these diverse learners, the tablets with cases will be used for research, group work, typing, reading, and many other useful skills. They will learn how to work together while researching, and turn in typed assignments. They will learn a joy of reading by using e-books to support skills they learn in the classroom.

Colleges and careers both use many different types of technology everyday.

These tablets are one step closer to supporting those necessary skills for the work force, especially since my students will be a part of the workforce in just a year or two!
