Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Currently, a typical day in my classroom starts with the students coming in and working on a problem of the day that I have written on the board. Then we move on to a science activity or working through problems. With these donations, I can make both of these an interactive part of class.

My students are incredible!

I have athletes, scholars, artists, musicians, and so much more. They want to succeed and they try their hardest in everything they do. Not all of them have access to all of the technology available to many students, so bringing it in to the classroom so they can work with it is so important to making sure they have the 21st century skills needed when they graduate. My school is one of the top high schools for not only athletics, but also academics, and they work endlessly to make sure that all students find success.

My Project

With the materials in this project, I will be able to turn my lessons into interactive and collaborative experiences for the students. Instead of writing the Problem of the Day on the board and orally going over the answer, I will be able to pass around the iPad and have the students write their answers that will show up on the board. With the tablet I will be able to annotate PowerPoint's as we go, better explaining what is being taught. It will also allow students to come up and add information to what we are learning. The document camera will make it so I can use "I do, we do, you do" strategies to provide support and scaffolding for all students. With these resources, students will be able to be more immersed in the content, and interactive in their learning. On top of all of this, the iPad has incredible science resource apps that will bring the learning to life, including virtual field trips, 3D models of science material, and other top notch science content.

Donations to this project will have a profound effect on my classroom.

Not only will it provide invaluable tools for providing more interactive teaching instruction, it will provide all students the opportunity to become familiar with 21st century technology, regardless of what they are able to access at home. It will make the class even more engaging, and provide support and techniques for those who need more scaffolding during lessons.
