This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Let's hear it for technology! My students love working on tablets, at times not realizing they are learning. One tablet at a time goes a long way towards building technology in the classroom. "Technology has to be invented or adopted." –Jared Diamond. My students want to adopt it and learn it!

As a teacher in a Texas high school, my students are inspired to reach beyond their dreams each day in the classroom.

Because most of my students do not have access to the Internet in their homes, technology is a tool that catches their interests and engages them in learning in a fun and interactive manner. At times they share the use of cell phones as their vehicle to the internet. The students share two tablets in the classroom and would love to build up the count even if just by one at a time. My students are easily motivated with technology and compete with one another to be the first to answer. They enjoy navigating through YouTube and other sites to find those teachable videos. They also love creating their own videos and Prezi's for classroom presentations. They enjoy the use of apps that promote the learning of the Spanish language. They are my students, my learners, my children!

My Project

The use of tablets allows students to engage in a richer and broader level than I was able to do without the tablets. Students can explore concepts in greater depth and I can individualize instruction in ways that were not possible prior to the use of tablets in the classroom. The tools available with these tablets are expanding daily, providing an even greater opportunity for students to access resources that will help them, with my guidance, explore concepts in ways that will assist in their understanding and learning. Expanding the number of tablets in my classroom will provide each student in my class the opportunity to use technology to individualize their learning. Tablets allow them to receive extra instruction in my class through apps and interactive learning games.

I truly believe that our students are the future and if we deny them technology, what tools do they have on their own to learn?

What is their reason for wanting nice things and working for something meaningful in life, if nobody gives them the tools necessary to succeed? Help me build a more technology savvy student that can go out into the real world prepared.
