My students need a class set of Chromebooks in order to access daily lessons. These Chromebooks will help me to provide the 21st Century Skills to prepare my students.
Do you remember being excited about learning social studies or grammar during elementary school? Some might say yes, but many would say these subjects were so boring. Guess what? The technology that can be utilized with Chromebooks in elementary classrooms today is making every subject come alive!
We are a small but mighty building with 280 students.
We are a Title I school with 42% Free and Reduced. Our population is somewhat transient. However, we have the highest School of Choice enrollment in our school district. Many of our students come to us with socio/emotional needs. With our diverse population is it critical to insure all our student's lives are enhanced with the best educational practices available to them.
My Project
With daily one-to-one use of a Chromebook, my students will be able to access a wide variety of programs. Moby Max is one program that is top notch due to its ability to differentiate lessons to each student. The students take placement tests in every subject area, then proceed with lessons that fit their individual needs. Goggle Classroom allows students to work on many different types of projects such as written pieces of work, math sheets, art projects, etc. The work completed at school can be accessed from home or anywhere the Internet is available. This component allows students to work independently or collaboratively with groups. Most standardized assessments today are computer-based. Having students work on Chromebooks for their daily lessons gives them the skills needed when they are required to take these important assessments.
Collaboration is one of most important 21st Century skills that we can teach our young students.
The Chromebooks allow students to collaborate face to face or on the computer while working on projects. Young children are sponges. They come to life with the use of technological tools. They easily adopt new technologies as quickly as toddlers develop language skills. Technology is as important of a foundation as reading, writing and math in today's society.
