Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Each day in my school, we have extended Reading and Math blocks. Students are placed in classrooms by their levels and are grouped even smaller within each class. Teachers are encouraged to run independent learning centers while working with a small group with direct instruction.
I have 28 third graders who come to school to learn every day in our inclusion classroom.
5 of my students have individualized education plans, while co-teaching with a special education teacher, we reach ALL learners. I teach at a charter school in Chicago that caters to low income families. 80% of my school's population is on free or reduced price lunch. Students look at my school as a safe haven and love coming to school everyday. They look forward to using different tools and resources that help enrich their lives and education. Since I have such a variety of learners I have needed to find a variety of different ways to teach them!
My Project
I work at a school that uses technology to enhance the student learning process. The school has ordered subscriptions to many wonderful reading and math online resources. I am often found limited because of the amount of technology I have available to my class at any given moment. I would love to have these two iPads to be used as an independent reading center, math skill center, reading comprehension center, or anything else I can dream of. That's the beauty of having iPads that are designated for my classroom. I can use them in SO MANY WAYS!!
With your help my students will be engaged in learning in a variety of different ways.
Students will be given some learning choice when they have the iPad in front of them which helps them enjoy and focus on what they are learning. I will be able to differentiate for my students and be able to teach them on their own individual level. I will be able to give them a library of books at their fingertips to read at their level. Overall, I will be able to give them a life changing education!
