When you walk into my classroom, you might be overwhelmed. We are different. We are loud. We are learning. We laugh. We cry. We discuss. We push each other. We achieve all that we can. We succeed.
We are a diverse community.
With many students coming from underprivileged families, our needs are great. We strive to lift each other up daily. Unfortunately, our limited supplies and classroom setting can sometimes inhibit us from focusing on the learning activities at hand. However, we always find a way to push through together.
My Project
With all the diversity and craziness currently happening in the world, the need for social justice and acceptance of others continues to grow.
By reading literature about the Holocaust, my students will be able to learn about diversity and the value of social justice within our school and the world.
By having multiple sets of Holocaust novels in our classroom, we will be able to utilize independent literature circles. This allows each student to select the novel that interests them and fits their individual reading ability. Literature circles allow the students to read their novels independently while discussing them with other students who are reading either a different novel surrounding the same topic or the same novel as them.
