This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students all have a love of science and discovering solutions to problems. I want my students to be introduced to concepts where they can see the fun of programming and constructing circuits so that they can pick these concepts up as a hobby and pursue them in their future.

My school is an studio oriented magnet school in a low-income, urban district.

Our school is part of the public school system of the district, but we have an elongated day so that we can offer 80 minutes of an additional class to foster a student's' interests or talents. The elongated class that I teach is robotics.

My Project

There is no limit to the activities that my students will be able to accomplish through using the Arduino sets. Through the quantity I have requested, 1 Arduino will be available to each group of 2 students. For the projects of my class, I want to start simple with some basic construction of autonomous robots that can travel the halls without crashing into walls. As for a different project, several of the students are really interested in responsive light displays for school events. Once I have taught them a bit more on programming, they mentioned that they want to create a school garden that has an automatic monitoring system that checks the sunlight and water levels. My students have the motivation and imagination to make incredible achievements in engineering. Through usage of the Arduinos, they will have the tools to apply this motivation in a manner that will have an exceptional influence on their intellect.

The Arduino products are made with the motivation of making programming and engineering accessible.

Through the Arduino based projects, my students will be able to learn programming in a way that has immediate physical results that can immediately be applied to problem solving, artistic expression, and analyzing the world around them.
