Remember when talking to a person on a screen was science fiction? The kindergartners of today have access to technology that was only a dream a decade or two ago.
My students are an active, creative group of kindergartners.
They are at a critical point in their language development. Some students have an extensive vocabulary, others are learning English as their 2nd language. The students have amazed me with their growing skills and ability to work as a learning team. But many students need extra help to understand directions, learning content, and vocabulary. You can help provide us with a powerful tool with this technology upgrade!
My Project
Most classrooms at our school have an iPad to use as a resource, but a few rooms don't. We are one of those rooms. With an iPad I will be able to look up pictures to give students a visual support to accompany our lessons. We will be able to use the camera to take photographs to use in our classroom writing. We will be able to play interactive games and lessons in our small groups. And students will be able to listen to and record their reading.
The students in my classroom are growing up in a technological world.
The iPad will help my students develop their oral language skills, listening and speaking skills, and make stronger academic progress. Having access to visual and auditory supports and having access to technology for this support will help my students build a strong literacy and mathematical foundation on which they can build strong educational careers.
