Go ahead! "Take Your Best Shot!" Cameras are now part of the classroom. Without a doubt, a new camera would serve a dual role in our classroom. First and foremost, we need a camera (and accessories) for our class "project-based learning" lessons and second, to capture our memorable 2nd grade year!
We have almost 550 students here.
I am a 2nd grade teacher who has taught other grade levels in the past before settling in 2nd grade. Our teachers and staff engage our students in powerful ways and our students do enjoy the learning environment. The children truly embrace technology at our school. My students are motivated to use project based learning lessons. What is "Project Based Learning?" It is a teaching method in which students gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to an engaging and complex question, problem, or challenge. Using cameras in conjunction with computers offers powerful lessons for students. In short, we could use a new camera to offer engaging and powerful lessons for my curious students. The camera and accessories (memory card, batteries, bag, flash, etc.) would be powerful resources for them.
My Project
As a class that is in need of tools for digital lessons, let me say, "We are definitely crossing our fingers for a new camera!" I'm a teacher with an avid interest in classroom technology. I have seen changes in how our schools manage technology. Without a doubt, anyone can say with confidence that children are now tech-savvy by the time they enter school. By the time they leave Preschool they have been exposed to computers and yes, even cameras. By 2nd grade, they have mastered technology in effective ways. My students use technology centers for literacy, math and art. A new camera and accessories (memory card, batteries, bag, flash, etc.) would enable my students to participate in academic and art lessons that also enhance my lessons. Technology brings so much to the classroom. "Empowering Students Through Art" meshed with the curriculum is my goal with the camera. With hands-on projects in our academic world today, this new camera and accessories would bring my lessons to life!
Educators know all too well how essential technology has become in the classroom.
Philip Green stated, "Good, bad or indifferent, if you are not investing in new technology, you are going to be left behind." We know for certain, that cameras are powerful resources when used with project-based learning lessons. Would you please consider helping our class with this technology based project? Believe me, when I say, our little fingers are definitely crossed! Please help us "take our best shot!"
