Mrs. Adams from Memphis TN is requesting a class trip through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
See what Mrs. Adams is requestingMy students need to be exposed to downtown Memphis. Our students have never been outside of their community. Downtown Memphis has a lot to offer our students!

Sitting in the classroom to learn is overrated! All while watching a baseball game in the best city in the nation! Stephanie Norby says that "Field trips provide students with a window to the real world that they don't get in the classroom". Why not allow our students that same opportunity.
Our students live in a high poverty area.
Many do not have cars and they do not get to visit other areas of Memphis. If they cannot walk there, they do not go. As a school and community we believe that our students should experience other parts of Memphis and especially downtown. We also believe that it is our responsibility to provide them with the experiences that their parents may not be able to provide for them.
The students will get to go downtown and experience what it is like to visit the old stores, to walk around our very old and historical city, and also they will get to go and watch a Memphis Redbirds game. Most of students do not know what baseball is or how it is played. There are many academic subjects that we can teach the students while watching baseball. The students would be able to have a better understanding of how our economy works and how to plan for a trip out on the town. They need to understand that when you are going out that you need to budget how much money you can spend at each place. We would like to be able to take our students to a Memphis Redbird game, to the river for a picnic or to a restaurant where they can sit and have a dining experience, and also to one of the oldest businesses in Memphis, A. Schwab, to get a malt from the soda bar. This is an experience that every child in Memphis should get to enjoy.
Donations to this project will help to build the character of our students.
They will get to experience activities that they may never get to enjoy if it wasn't for the help of the very generous donors that so graciously donate to students such as ours. This project will also help to expand the culture of our students and what they have the chance to experience. They do not get to go outside of their small community. Please help our children to grow and learn outside of the classroom!
