This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Once a week, my class works on websites to improve their math skills and reading comprehension practice in the computer lab. Yet, once a week isn't enough - they need daily engagement using technology.

The sixth grade students I work with have learning disabilities and need additional review and practice in reading and math skills.

My learning center class, a small learning environment, is where they receive that much needed additional instruction. We are lucky that we have access to a state-of-the-art computer lab, but once a week just isn't enough for my students. They enjoy working on math and reading practice on computers and are always excited when we have a chance to visit the computer lab.

My Project

Using Android tablets with an integrated keyboard every day, my students will be able to continue their math and reading comprehension practice. They will also be able to view tutorial videos and complete their grammar warm-up using websites I signed up for, but then couldn't implement due to the lack of computers in my class. I'm very excited to use these websites to liven up my daily grammar warm-ups!

I'm constantly looking for creative ways to engage students to take part in their own learning.

Using technology on a daily basis will accomplish this goal as well as offer digital access to students who may not have as many opportunities to work on computers.
