My students need a camcorder, microphone, tripod, and editing software to create a video library of student taught lessons for classrooms across the United States.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Herrmann's classroom raised $801
This project is fully funded
My Students
At times teachers struggle to engage students, so why do we refuse to ask students how they would teach our lessons? How would they teach the Civil Rights Movement? or Earthquakes? How about Quantum Physics? Our students have a unique perspective; let's give them the chance to share it.
Our students are diverse despite living in a rural community in Central Illinois.
They are young people who have dropped out of the public school system. Disengaged from the learning process due to failing grades, behavioral issues, or unsupportive families, our students slip through the cracks. Our program is a second chance for students to find success in education. We offer strong student teacher relationships and a unique and engaging curriculum. In spite of being identified as "at-risk" our students refuse to let a labels stop them from succeeding. They earn a high school diploma or GED, prepare for college, and most admirably give back to their community. Our students are volunteers, from constructing a community garden to tutoring younger versions of themselves, our young people learn what it means to serve. This group of amazing young people find a way to achieve in the face of adversity.
My Project
With the resources donated, our students will have the ability to change and shape future education. The camcorder, microphone, tripod, and editing software will give students a voice that will reach beyond their classroom walls. If the best way to learn is to teach, that is what our students will be doing so as they create a video library of student taught lessons. Their efforts will not fade in years to come. What they accomplish will be a resource for future students not only in our program, but students around the country. Give our students the chance to impact education by allowing them to take ownership of their learning and the learning of others.
Know that your donation will have an instant effect.
As soon as the equipment is received students will begin recording their lesson plans. The value of this project is its lasting impact. Students anywhere or anytime will be able to access a library of student lessons created because of your donation. This project is not about serving one specific group of students; it is about granting students the opportunity to share their perspective to enrich the education of their peers.
