Every morning I greet my 28 students with a smile and a strong sincere handshake. Every day I show a short video for the students to respond to. The videos teach students to think critically and respond to real life situations. My students are aware of the importance of a good education.
My students are eager to learn and to do well in life.
Our school is located in a high poverty area, where most students eat three meals a day with us. Many of my students have never been outside their city or had the experience on spending the night somewhere else.
My students need support with fundraising for an overnight field trip to science camp. This science experience will open their eyes to the many opportunities through hands-on experience in science. Hopefully, the impact will be so great that they might pursue a career in science.
My Project
Students will be able to travel to Golden Gate Park to see the ocean which many have never seen. They will also have the chance to learn in nature's classroom and connect with the world they live in. The goal of Nature Bridge is to foster environmental literacy to sustain our planet. Not only will my students learn about our world, but they will gain responsibility and life skills during their two night stay away from home.
Going on a week-long camping trip when I was a child changed my life.
I learned to be a team player. I learned to collaborate, share new ideas and accept the ideas of others. My students will also have that opportunity and experience to learn and share new ideas. They will learn about nature and experience a new world through science.
