I teach enthusiastic fifth grade readers who have fallen in love with Gary Paulsen. We are a Title I school in rural North Carolina. I teach all subjects to these great kids and would love to give them the opportunity to continue to read books by Gary Paulsen.
We have been studying Canada, the United States, and Mexico. In our study of Canada, I wanted to read Hatchet. They loved it so much that they wanted more. I told them about Brian's Winter, the sequel. They asked if they would learn more about Canada and I told them yes, as well as science, survival, and hope. My kids would love to read this book. We could really use your help making this a reality.
This project will allow my students to continue to study Canada and one 11 year old boy's misadventures there. The books discuss the mountains and the climate of Canada. This is exactly part of our study for Canada. These books are even more inviting to my students because Brian is about their age. They relate to him. Please help them relate to Brian by proving this opportunity to them.
Here is your opportunity to help us read more. They love Gary Paulsen and Brian Robeson. Please make it possible for my students to have this experience and fund our project to make a difference in their lives.
