Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
1200+ students walk through my classroom each week. I get 30 minutes a week to engage my students through the various tools technology offers them. If they walk out my door and I have not engaged their minds and hands, I have failed. Failure is NOT an option.
I am a technology teacher for an elementary school in Worthington MN.
It is my belief that students learn better using an on-hands approach. Technology Education teaches students about the human made world and it helps students become technologically literate in today's advanced world. I would like to offer my students experiences that are far from the cookie cutter models we see take place in the traditional computer lab classroom.
My students are eager to learn when they walk into the computer lab. For many of them, it is their only exposure to technology.

My Project
Computer science is in dire need of people in its work force. The students that walk into my classroom with be stepping out in that work force in 20 years. I want them to experience as much as I can expose them to in the field of technology. Part of my mission is to create an environment of learning with coding and robotics.
With your donations, I will be able to purchase the Lego's Mindstorm Robotic kits.
My kids love anything that has the word LEGO associated with it. We already use the CAD program that LEGOS offers now. I went to take it leaps beyond what we do already in my classroom. Robotics is the next logical step. I want them to WANT to learn and experience what technology has to offer them.
