My Students

A typical day in my classroom varies each day! I teach grades prekindergarten to grade 8!
My students come from one of the largest cities and school district in the state of Massachusetts.
As an urban city we have many varied backgrounds. English is not the first language for more than 39% of my students; more than 29% of my students are English language learners. Some of them are refugees from other countries. Over 66% of our students receive free lunch and 8% receive reduced rate lunch. More than 82% of my students are high needs, yet they always come to school with smiles on their faces!
Our school is wonderful. We strive to develop creative minds and critical thinkers who are academically proficient and skillfully prepared for success in high school and beyond. We do this by creating a safe and positive learning environment through the collaborative efforts of the best staff, wonderful students, involved parents, and community partners.
My Project
By using Bee-Bots students will enhance their social skills in addition to learning skills in estimation, sequencing, problem-solving and just have fun using technology! Bee-Bots are sturdy, colorful and children love using them because they are tangible!
Elementary students can program Bee-Bots with up to 40 commands; left, right, forward and back. Bee-Bots are the "ultimate manipulative" for elementary students. Additionally, there is a full line of materials to enhance student learning.
By exposing my students to this this wonderful opportunity it will allow them to be introduced to programming and begin to develop their 21st Century skills as early as kindergarten!
