My Students
Students who participate in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) activities are actively engaged in the process of critical thinking through collaborative, problem-solving experiences. My students thrive in this hands-on, minds-on environment as they develop life skills.
My students are hungry for a challenge and have learned how to work through productive struggle.
I strive to create a learning environment that is safe in order to encourage students to take risks in their learning process. When my students can relate their classroom activities to real-world activities, the learning level multiplies and student engagement soars.
My Project
Through local grants, we have been fortunate enough to acquire a class set of laptops and two sets of Brictek Building Blocks. My students use these materials during our STEAMulation Stations to build the 21st Century Skills of creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and communication. With the addition of the Makey Makey Invention Kit, students will creatively find new ways to enhance their engineering and design skills. The Sphero BB, Sphero Ollie, and Ozobot will allow students to experience writing computer codes and seeing them in action. Many of my students currently work with Blockly, and I have seen an improvement in their ability to pay attention to detail in their everyday activities.
Critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication are difficult skills to teach, so it is my job to provide students with the opportunities to develop these areas through active engagement.
STEAMulation Stations will allow my students to take control of their learning and unleash their creative potential.
