Learning appears like magic when the music is turned on! It never ceases to amaze me as I watch my students come alive vocally and physically when there is music involved! We need help with our ability to focus, help calm our sensory issues, the circle time kit can help us enjoy learning!
We are a Kindergarten through 2nd grade special needs classroom.
The students are very energetic and full of laughter and fun. They have multiple disabilities: autism, visual impairments to totally blind, and intellectual disabilities. Most of the students deal with sensory input issues that tend to interfere with their learning, so we try many different ways to help them deal with sensory input. We are a county office classroom on a general education campus in the sunny state of California.
My Project
We are asking for help in getting a circle-time kit that will help us focus while we learn. Some items in the kit help us sit, but allow us to continue to have movement so that we can focus, other items keep our hands or feet busy. We don't have enough musical instruments so that each student can use one, so we are asking for two sets of rhythm instruments in our request also. We will be able to learn counting with the beat, learn our letter sounds as we sing. Music keeps us alert and learning.

They will be able to enjoy learning when given the tools to calm their sensory needs. These tools will enrich their lives as they learn how to cope with their individual needs and in turn help their care givers and family as they see their child bloom.
